i took an unplanned break from the newsletter (and many other things) because things were a bit wild in the world. but as the days passed, i realized that it was important for me to take space for myself and use the time to reflect intentionally. i missed a lot of things that i would have liked to talk about here— juneteenth, local art actions, summer solstice, deaths, solitude, protests, and my birthday. it was nice having time to reset, but i’m excited to get back to this project and cover some of the things ive missed.
todays picture is from solange’s old blog, my damn blog. this picture always reminds me of summer, good weather, and the ease of relaxing with friends.
i’d also like to share this audre lorde inspired zine by homie house press, that i came across about the importance of rest and renewal during precarious social times. its very short and I hope you take a look.
